Malummí Release “Blood” Debut

29 October 2021 saw the release via Irascible Records of “Blood”, the debut album from Basel-based Malummí. Formed in 2018 to perform the songs of Brasil-born Larissa Rapold, the trio also consists of studio boffins Giovanni Vicari and Alon Ben.

Rapold’s gravity-defying vocals are sometimes reminiscent of Minnie Riperton. Oozing warmth, they are embedded in a dense and yet featherlight, trip-hop-y soundtrack partly teased out of computers, partly supplied by guitars and percussion. Sometimes dealing with her own family history, sometimes with the wonder of the ways of nature, Rapold’s songs are strongly influenced – in word and sound – by her experiences during a long return trip to Brazil.
