Roshâni exploring space
Roshâni’s long-awaited, excellent debut album “Planet R” is out now via Stone Pixels Records. The Genevan duo consisting of Roxane Dumont (vocals) and Inès Mouzone (bass/keyboards) sings in four languages – Farsi, Spanish, English and French – which is a good starting point for a description of their idiosyncratic and hugely enjoyable musical melange. Irresistibly danceable and yet musically satisfying enough to please any club-resisting home listener, “Planet R” combines rhythms and melodic touches from the Middle East with hard-driving House beats, psychedelically tinged electronica and a hint of yé-yé. Produced by L’Eclair’s Yavor Lilov, the album also features guest spots from Iranian hip-hop singer Sorry Bahar and Swiss-Spanish synth-pop/rock artist Moictani.
