Billie Bird celebrating the never-ending light of summers
Lausanne-based singer/songwriter Billie Bird returns with a second collection of subtle and literate chansons. Entitled “La lumiére sans fin des étés” (“The never-ending light of summers”), the album is out now on Mouthwatering Records.
Co-produced in Zurich with percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Domi Chansorn as well as Odd Beholder’s Daniela Weinmann, Billie Bird’s songs command attention by their elegantly intimate tranquillity. Accompanied by mostly acoustic guitars, understated percussion and the odd textural extra vocal, her voice oozes warmth and her melodies are as subtle as they are memorable.
Billie Bird aka Elodie Romain was born to a loving mother who, sadly, suffered from serious mental problems, and a father who found it impossible to look after the girl and her sister. Living for many years in a children’s home, Elodie found solace in music, especially in playing the guitar her mother had given her as a present when she was nine. Today, she describes herself as a singer-songwriter to whom it is essential to create “intimate bonds through performing, with authenticity and generosity”.
