Anoraque – not for anoraks!

How this band ever arrived at their cagoule of a name is a mystery. Anoraque are anything but boring. A kaleidoscopic view of everything that’s exciting in contemporary indie, more like. Taking as a starting point the angular dynamics of bands like Alt-J, Anoraque’s feelers are stretched out in all directions, from the glitschy electronica of “////” via the much heavier “Uh-Oh” and the wobbly dreaminess of “Wolf” all the way to the slowly swinging Hammond organ chanson, “Hollywood”.

In short, Anoraque – a Swiss/German four-piece, with Lorraine Dinkel, Valentin Hebel and Hagen Neye all contributing vocals – follow up last year’s debut EP with a work that is not so much a conventional album and more an encyclopaedia of styles, grooves and moods.D A R E”  – no relation to the Human League! – is released on 9 November by Radicalis Records.
