Are you ready for MaMA? SME @ MaMA, Paris 12 – 14 October 2016

Autumn time, MaMA time! The MaMA festival/conference is most definitely one of the more glamorous and thus eagerly anticipated events in the yearly music business calendar. Taking place in two of the most colourful areas of Paris, Montmartre and Pigalle, the event attracts music business professionals from 60 countries, representing major record labels as well as indies, concert venues, festivals, promoters, managers, publishers, broadcasters and, of course, the media. 40 panels are spread across a number of different locations during the day. One of these is L’Elysée Montmartre, back in action after extensive renovation work. In the evening, 130 acts will be performing in 13 different venues.

Once again, the traditional Swiss Music Business Mixer presented jointly by SME, Fondation CMA,  Fondation SUISA and Swiss Embassy in Paris mustn’t be missed.

It is the perfect mix of fine networking, fine food and excellent music, and offers an excellent opportunity to meet music professionals. This year’s business mixer will also feature showcase performances by Egopusher and Le Roi Angus. Anyone attending the conference/festival is invited to the business mixer. Entrance is free. However, due to the limited number of places it is necessary to apply for accreditation no later than 10 October 2016.

The five-piece indie-chanson band Le Roi Angus combine jangling guitars with a quirky sense of humour to underpin a series of finely tuned and atmospheric songs. Their debut album “Îles Essentiel” was released last autumn by Cheptel records.

Egopusher shouldn’t work but they do work, triumphantly. The duo of drummer Alessandro Giannelli and violinist Tobias Preisig combine their instruments with a number of electronic devices to produce an intensely dynamic live set of immense power and depth.

Buvette is essentially a one-man studio operation, occasionally augmented with a band. Cédric Streuli’s airily melodic electronica-based songs sometimes hint at early Brian Eno songs, sometimes at early Depeche Mode. Buvette’s new album “Elasticity” was released on 23 September on Pan-European Recording
