Chien Bleu feels like a dog
Following on from three much acclaimed full-length albums, Genevan rapper Chien Bleu releases a six-track EP entitled “DOG”. Also available now via YouTube is a similarly-titled short documentary. Shot in stylish monochrome, it documents Chien Bleu’s outlook, concerns and inspirations, including tattoos and boxing. In his French-language raps, too, Chien Bleu sticks to gritty and yet subtle descriptions of everyday life, underpinned by pleasingly varied beats and instrumental arrangements. Here’s what his press release has to say: “Between raw lyrics, unique compositions and a shift towards more accessible sounds, Chien Bleu retains the essence of his underground NDA. His motto remains unchanged: to be sincere, whatever the cost.”
