Warm Songs in Cold Weather from Wintershome
Five years after their debut, Wintershome are releasing their long-awaited follow up via Irascible. Entitled «Below Zero», it was once again produced by Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Brandi Carlile, Vance Joy) who travelled to Amsterdam for these recordings from his own Bear Creek Studio in the suburbs of Seattle. Hailing from Zermatt in the shadow of the Matterhorn, the quintet often talks – metaphorically and literally – about the special quality of warmth on the inside when it’s cold outside.
Thus, after the “cold” of the Covid lockdown, their creative spirits were revived during a concert in August 2021 in a neighbouring mountain village, Saas-Almagell. “We told ourselves that we had to continue, that we couldn’t stop.“ they say. The break has done nothing to dim their melodic inspiration. Led by the glorious harmonies of the lead voices of Romaine Müller, Maria Zurbriggen and Joel Müller, «Below Zero» is filled to the brim with joyous choruses and creamy arrangements firmly rooted in the American tradition of elegant, Country-influenced singer/songwriters like The Pierces, Fleetwood Mac, Lissie or the already mentioned Brandi Carlile.
