Dana Celebrating Future Daughters
After five tours of Germany this year alone, and 200+ concerts in Switzerland and abroad, 24-year-old Dana is at last ready to release her debut album. Called “Future Daughters”, it was released on 16 September 2022 by Mouthwatering Records. Already, the lead-track from the album, “Coming Home”, has attracted attention from as far afield as Rolling Stone India and more than forty German radio playlists.
Born into a family of musicians, Dana Burkhard was never in any doubt that she would one day be a musician. Raised on the cusp between French and Swiss Switzerland in Biel, she now lives in Zurich where she and her band – containing her brother Joel who plays bass, and a handful of old friends – have established themselves as an extremely popular live act. Her songs are a fascinating mixture of deeply personal lyrics and irresistibly sunny and poppy choruses, underpinned by both organic bass/drums grooves and richly layered electronica textures.
Says Dana: “My lyrics are so personal, sometimes showing them to the world scares me. But at the same time what always helps me going through a rough time is listening to other artist’s songs that speak to me. I openly sing about my most painful experiences because I want you to feel understood, I want you to know you’re not alone. I’d love to think of my songs as your companions. Like a warm hug or a friend’s shoulder to rest your head on.”
