Andrina Bollinger Sows Her Secret Seed

Singer/songwriter/experimenter Andrina Bollinger’s first album, entitled “Secret Seed”, is released on 14 October 2022 via Mouthwatering Records. Bollinger – based in Zurich, Berlin, and, for the duration of one track, in her family’s chalet in the mountains of Grisons – was previously part of two much-talked-about experimental duos, Eclecta and JPTR. Fed up with the life of a touring musician, she created her own studio in Berlin, an environment stuffed with synths of all kinds, percussion instruments and other sound-making devices, to try out new approaches without restrictions of time or style.

Feeling that with the help of the right person, she might be able to dig deeper into the resulting material, she turned to Irish producer David Odlum. With a list of clients ranging from Gemma Hayes, The Frames, Paloma Faith and Tamikrest to Swiss artists Pamela Mendez and Ursina, Odlum had a proven track record of getting the best out of a wide range of artists and approaches. Drummer Arthur Hnatek, bassist Jules Martinet and percussionist Julian Sartorius completed the new recording outfit. The result is an ambitious and multi-facetted collection of songs that showcase a singular songwriter revelling in the start of a new chapter in her creative career.

To sum up, here’s what her info text has to say: “Andrina Bollinger’s solo debut Secret Seed is a layered, multiplex, and singular expedition into the mind-body of an artist. Think: a Charlie Kaufmann screenplay, or an MC Escher drawing. Call it poetic surrealist-existentialism. Self-reflexive and labyrinthine, the record is a riveting odyssey through the wilderness of contemporary Art Pop bricolage.”
