Cédric Monnier’s Film Soundtrack without Film

It’s not often that the release of a new album comes not just with a CD Digipack and a limited vinyl LP version but also a physical book with photos and, yes, sheet music! But this is exactly what’s happening with “Mélodies d’un film perdu”, the first solo album from pianist Cédric Monnier. It was released on 5 March 2021 by Zealand Records, with international digital distribution by igroove.

“Hello and welcome to my world”, writes Monnier on his homepage, “I recorded my piano compositions in a remote estate in Brittany near the untamed Atlantic coast. In the process, fragile, sensual piano pieces were created, meandering between somnambulistic, cinematic scenery and gentle, natural pureness. The genesis of this album means a lot to me. It is a very personal and intimate diary expressed through music. A journey into my inner-self. Enjoy your stay!”

Cédric Monnier was for many years a member of the successful band Lunik. Apart from many others, he worked extensively with Lunik’s ex-singer Jael and with the Berlin-based band Bonaparte.
