This is it – the Swiss take over Eurosonic! 15 – 18 January 2020
Nothing against Guy Fawkes, Halloween, Diwali, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve – but let’s face it, these are mere pre-ambles for the real shindig, Eurosonic! And here’s a thing: we at Swiss Music Export are absolutely 101% certain that Eurosonic 2020 will be bigger, better and groovier than anything that’s gone before. Why? Because 2020 is the year of the Swiss!
That’s right. Switzerland is the focus country of Eurosonic 2020. All of us at Swiss Music Export are massively pleased to be able to present the best of the best that our music scene has to offer to the movers and shakers of the European music industry. We have chosen no fewer than 22 acts of whom we believe they will do us proud. The stylistic range is huge, with the raw rock intensity of Asbest at one end of the spectre, and the fizzy electro pop of Ikan Hyu at the other, and the likes of Black Sea Dahu (gorgeous vocals), Muthoni Drummer Queen (ebullient afro-techno) or KT Gorique (francophone rap) in between.
To make the package even more irresistible, we’ve also lined up a whole raft of events designed to facilitate a convivial and constructive dialogue between artists, business professionals and anyone else interested in fine music. Oh, and there’s food and drinks too.
The events are all unmissable, obviously, but we would like to draw the kind reader’s attention especially to the Swiss Focus Country Lounge (an all-day meeting point and bar for anyone wanting to know more about Swiss music), the Swiss reception on Thursday with a performance of Sophie Hunger and Julian Sartorius of work specially devised for Eurosonic, and the SAY HI! Soundwalk, a guided tour to meet and chat with some of the Swiss artists performing in Groningen. And last but not least: The ultimate cheese contest: Netherlands and Switzerland invite you to an experiment full of the yellow delicacy. The Netherlands versus Switzerland in a Gouda/Gruyere back to back. And because we vote a lot in Switzerland, you’ll be kindly invited to vote for the best cheese.
Oh, and by the way – Swiss Music Export wholeheartedly supports the Music Declares Emergency movement. Many of our artists and delegates will travel to Groningen by train.
Be there or be square!
