Futureman is here!

If the end is nigh, so is the new beginning. „Futureman“ to the rescue! „Futureman“ is the creation of Harvey Rushmore & the Octopus, a collection of humans, instruments, machines and images dedicated to the exploration of the weird and wonderful in us all. „Futureman“ was released on A Tree in a Field Records on 26 October, distributed internationally by Broken Silence, in Switzerland by Irascible.

They call themselves “an audiovisual adventure, a rock’n’roll exploitation flick, a dime novel, written in a breathless beat and full of distorted cliff hangers, edgy nude scenes and desperate late night bar fights.” And that’s no lie. Drawing inspiration from 1960s and 1970s underground art, theirs is a sound pickled in a deep love for the Casiotone and then soaked in the more insistently monotonous passages of Velvet Underground and the 13th Floor Elevators, in Can’s “Tago Mago” as well as early Pink Floyd. All this without the hint of stale nostalgia.

Futureman“ is a concept album, no less. This, in a nutshell provided by the band, is the story: “Using his skills, „Futureman“ recognises the government’s true intentions and the power and money-hungry aristocrats that rule the world. But due to his multi-sexual orientation plus his gender and species fluid appearance, he is ignored by the public and treated with contempt while the world is threatened by a mysterious, red slime”. If this sounds deep and meaningful – it may well be. The music, however, is simply and irresistibly one thing: Fun.

Harvey Rushmore & the Octopus are celebrating the release of their second album with a massive tour across Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland.
