Lord Kesseli Boiled Down to a Grand Piano

When Lord Kesseli was invited by a radio station in Winterthur to perform a live concert with only a Rhodes piano for company, he readily agreed – especially if the station would provide a grand piano instead of the Rhodes. The show was played and broadcast in the middle of the second Covid-19 lockdown on 27 November 2020. The recording was released as an album on 28 May 2021 via Irascible Records. The title of the album: “Tell Me When You’re Empty”.

Even a “normal” Lord Kesseli & the Drums concert where Dominik Kesseli plays guitar and keyboards alongside the drummer, Michael Gallusser, is a spooky and memorable event. Describing themselves as “synthetic Science Fiction sound worlds with analogue raging textures”, their anti-pop songs create a deep and dynamic tension that lingers in the memory for a very long time. Reduced to voice and piano, the stark beauty of Kesseli’s songs becomes even more moving. Apart from new versions of Kesseli-evergreens like “Cold War” and “Hail to the Economy”, the album contains three new songs, “Meteors Hitting the Earth”, “Popsong”, and the title track.
