FlexFab Meets Ziller Bas in a Mugogo Style!

Electronic beats from Lake Neuchâtel and words from the Kenyan coast – it all began with an impromptu session in a small club in Kilifi.

With 5 million streams for his single “Zoo” alone, a host of awards including “Best Emerging Talent” at Swiss Live Talents and the overall “Best Track” at the m4music Demo Tape Clinic, plus extensive tours in Europe, South America, Africa, and Japan, FlexFab has seen a lot and done a lot. Well-known for his mixture of down-below basslines, crazy sound effects and weird, but weirdly danceable, rhythms, even he was not quite prepared, however, for what happened to him that night last August on his stop-off in Kilifi, a small town fifty miles North of Mombasa.

Deeply immersed in his show in a small and sweaty club, FlexFab was astonished when, in the middle of his set, a member of the audience invaded the stage and insisted on rapping along with his beats. Sceptical at first, FlexFab was, indeed, flexible enough in his approach to let the unexpected “guest” do his thing. And, lo and behold, something clicked. FlexFab and Ziller Bas, for it was him, became instant friends. Six months later, in January 2020, the Swiss beat maker returned to Kilifi with all the necessary equipment in his suitcase to make a proper recording, and a video director in tow, Rapahel Piguet, who would make a film of the adventure. Two weeks of intense, often improvised work, resulted in an incredible fourteen tracks, all of them completely unique. Entitled “Mugogo! part 1”, the first batch of four of these songs was released on 12 June.
