Los Orioles Vamp Up les Vacances
Los Orioles, the wacky exotica psychedelicists, have a new record deal to celebrate, and they do this with a fiery new 4-track EP.
A party band par excellence, Los Orioles from the bilingual city of Biel are a seven-piece marinated in all things Caribbean and tropical in general. Mixing their reggae with heaps of influences ranging from Cumbia to Two Tone to and Salsa, they then add a hefty dose of psychedelic seasoning in the style of the Cramps if not the Reverend Beat Man.
With their new EP they have expanded the wild range of influences still farther to include Nigerian rhythms and vocal harmonies that actually do occasionally approach a semblance of harmonic unity.
“Vacances à Mer” was released on 27 March via Creaked Records.
