Yoa, favourites continued
In January 2025, singer/songwriter Yoa released her debut album, “La Favorite” – and here, once again via Panenka Music, comes the final version of that hit album, “La Favorite, suite et fin” (“La Favorite, continuation and end”). With six new tracks added to the beginning, the record now comprises an ultra-generous 21 songs – and there’s not a single bit of filler amongst them! Clearly, Yoa is a prolific artist: before the debut LP she had already released one EP with seven tracks, another with ten.
2025 turned out to be a fantastic year for the daughter of a father from canton Jura and a mother from Cameroon. Starting her artistic life in theatre, her career in music began in earnest with a debut EP in 2021. Blessed with a wonderfully flexible voice which she applies to elegant effect, Yoa is a smart and witty lyricist, too. Probably best classified, if needs be, as “synth-pop”, her arrangements find plenty of room for influences as diverse as bossa-nova, 2 step and classic French chanson. “The birth of a French-speaking pop star”, gushed Vogue magazine, an impression that is confirmed by 110 million streams to date. Clearly, the fans who packed the 2000+ capacity Salle Pleyel in Paris for two nights running also agreed.
