Bastian Baker goes back to the beginning

“Lucky” was the title of an early single by Bastian Baker – of course it was a hit. Every one of his four albums to date has reached the top three in Switzerland. As if by magic, everything the 27 year old singer-songwriter from Lausanne has touched, has turned to gold. 26 October sees the release of his fifth album. It is called, simply, “Bastian Baker”. “This album marks such a massive quantum jump for me it feels like my second debut album,” says Baker.

The latest chapter in Baker’s amazing good luck story began with a visit to his ice hockey playing friend Roman Josi in Nashville. He liked the place so much he stayed. Inspired by the city’s tradition of song writing, for the first time in his life he began to work with other songwriters. “It was like being in 35 bands at the same time and learning from all of them.” Sixty songs were written within a year with collaborators such as Vlad Holiday, Josh Bruce Williams, Caroline Marquard and Jacquire King. The result is a pop album choc-a-bloc full of a deadly hooks and fine melodies.

Bastian Baker” is released in Switzerland by Phonag Records, with international licencing deals being negotiated. By the way, Bastian Baker’s luck shows no sign of running out. Shortly after completing work on the album he was invited by Shania Twain to accompany her on her world tour as the support act and sing a couple of duets with her later on. The tour began in May 2018 in Tacoma and ends 77 dates later on 22 December in Dunedin, New Zealand.
