Rootwords raps out a warning

23 March sees the release of “Warning Signs”, the second album from Geneva-based rapper Rootwords, via Kinyama Records. Produced by Yvan Peacemaker (Stress, Soprano, Bligg, Nicole Bernegger etc.) it features beats constructed by Rootwords’s regular collaborators, the Block Notes, plus guest appearances by J-Fever, the Chinese freestyle champions, and Robin Thirdfloor, a rapper from South Africa. Rootwords met both artists during four years of intense touring all over the world, from China to Peru, and from South Africa to France.

Rootwords was born in the USA from Zambian heritage, and raised in the French part of Switzerland. His work cannot fail to reflect his globe-spanning perspective on life. Stylistically, Rootwords’s music ranges from digital post-ragga (“Blue Sapphire”, “Bad Bitch”) to atmospheric trip-hop with bursts of brassy swing (“Warning Signs”) and powerful hip-hop in the tradition of Common (“No Filter”).

The album is distributed in the GSA Countries via Differ-Ant.
