New Ekat Bork album

In the land where Ekat Bork was born tigers, snow leopards and bears lived in the woods. Like most of Russia, the circus and theatre were embedded in the culture. She sang traditional songs of the Russian far east. She danced wildly. She studied at the university. She packed all she had, stole the money from her mother’s purse and caught the Trans-Siberian Express to St Petersburg.
In 2014 she reached the most important stages in Switzerland like the Gurten Festival, M4music , Label Suisse, while she was composing her new album.

Ekat Bork is incredibly STRONG. She is physically powerful, willfully relentless, utterly determined. Her new album “YASDYES” exemplifies that strength of character. Departing from the soft, strung out, lush production of her acclaimed debut “Veremellious”, this is dark, deep, electronic, subversive… and yet soulful. It is the release of pent-up energy, barely contained and often erupting with heart-wrending, volcanic, visceral power in thirteen autobiographical songs.
Written on her travels across Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Germany and Portugal, these tracks never surrender to convention or pander to populism. The music is rhythmic, serrated, sensual, unnerving, created by a woman who has battled all her life and is afraid of nothing.

4 November sees the release of Ekat Bork’s second album „YASDYES“ (Russian for I am here now) on the GinkhoBox label in Switzerland and Motor Music in Germany.
