Aloan selected for the Eurockennes Festival
Swiss Artists @ Eurockéennes:
CELYANE / Pop-Rock (Nyon)
TIGER THE LION / Folk (Genève)
LOLE / Jazz-Pop-Folk (Neuchâtel)
ALOAN / électro (Genève)
The jury selected Aloan, the electro trip pop from Geneva – with the release of their second album We Play has confirmed the powerful and original talent that was already hinted at in their first album Palmyr.
The jury included Hervé Riesen (responsible de la programmation musicale de Couleur 3), François Küffer (programmation musicale Couleur 3), Marc Ridet (Directeur Fondation CMA), Laurence Vinclair (PTR – Usine), Kem Lalot (Les Eurockéennes de Belfort), Patricia Bonnetaud (Ladilafé production), Manu Skatchko (Le Noumatrouff)
The band will play alongside the winners from France and Germany. The Templin produces seven winning bands at the festival who are given professional support by the event organisers and team.

Mixing electronic music, jazz groove, pop melodies, rap and soul singing, Aloan has been chosen for its powerful live performance, as said Marc Ridet of Swiss Music Export. With that kind of music, the live performance is often bellow the discographic production. Here, it’s the opposite.
With recent concerts at the Usine in february and success at the Cully jazz festival the bands unique style is gathering popularity.
After their initial success with «Palmyr», Aloan and its discreet, but very efficient, leader Alain Frey (Sumo, Demillac, PPA+, Scotti-Ribordy, Wild Mango, etc.) present their second opus called «We play». This unexpected album, and its accomplished production, not only confirms Aloan’s talent but will also give them a major place in the Swiss touch electro pop world. Though Alain Frey composed most of We play’s titles, he invited Sébastien von Roth (Alain Bashung, Mobile in Motion, Patrick Müller) to write two selections, both strong and sensible. Lyn m, Aloan’s new singer, asserts herself through her strength, emotion and quality of her lyrics. To contrast this sweet feminine inspiration, the hard rapper Granite, who already sang on «Palmyr», brilliantly performs further with this up and coming band.
The international rock festival ‚The Eurockeenes‘ has been taking place on the peninsula of Malsaucy near Belfort for 17 years now. What started out as a big party for young pop fans has grown into a major festival drawing some of today’s most popular acts and an audience of over 95 000 people.
Every year the Eurockennes invites people to attend a hullabaloo of different musical style : pop, rock, heavy metal, hip hop, electro, reggae, latino, world music etc, giving everybody the opportunity to cast an eye and to pitch an ear towards the music of other realms by the sheer force of conviviality. Performances take place spread across four stages. Highlights of the programme for 2006 include Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, The Strokes, Damian Jr Gong Marley, Arctic Monkeys, Coldcut, Morrissey, Muse, Archive, Blackalicious and Sigur Ros.
