Argyle Finds Playgrounds in Ruins

Argyle follows up his “Waves” EP in 2022 with another five-track EP, “Playgrounds in Ruins”. The Scottish singer/songwriter with Indian roots, a Swiss home and a massive voice is signed to Universal CH. Nearly three years might look like a long time passing between releases. However, Argyle has been kept busy by several high-profile collaborations with chart-storming Swiss artists like Stress, Chiara Castelli, Marius Bear and Remo Forrer whose hit single “Watergun” he co-wrote. “Playgrounds in Ruins” contains five songs, all bursting with big emotions, big choruses and big, orchestral arrangements.

Blessed by the sort of slightly-hoarse voice that simultaneously suggests a colourful past, a yearning libido, and little-boy-lostness, Argyle Singh’s songs are cut from a similar melodic cloth as those of fellow-Scot Lewis Capaldi. As the name indicates, the son of an Indian father and a Scottish mother grew up in Argyll – “Argyle” is an archaic spelling of “Argyll” -, a county in the West of Scotland. As a teenager he moved to Leicester in the English midlands. Frustrated by the lack of opportunities in this dreary town, he packed his rucksack and bought a one-way ticket to Amsterdam where he started a career as a travelling busker that eventually brought him to Switzerland.
