The Beauty of Gemina Dream of Skeletons

A personal renaissance of sorts for the band’s leader, Michael Sele, “Skeleton Dreams”, the new album from The Beauty of Gemina, was at last launched on 28 August via TBOG Records.

Illustrating the old adage of a prophet being ignored in his own land, inexplicably, The Beauty of Gemina are much more successful in far flung places like Russia and South America than in their own country. All across Europe they have played the big festivals, steadily moving towards the evening slots in the running order. “Skeleton Dreams” is their ninth studio album. It continues Sele’s path towards a much quieter, more intimate and acoustic sound with the focus firmly on the singer’s superior skills as a songwriter and lyricist. The introspective feel of the album undoubtedly has to do with an unexpected and serious heart operation Sele had to undergo whilst in the process of preparing for a new album. The operation and its aftermath had a deeply disorientating effect on him which is reflected in the quiet mood of this beautiful album.

An extensive tour of Germany set up to coincide with the release had to be postponed until next year. A tour of Switzerland later this year is still expected to take place.
