The Company of Men Deliver Second LP

Four years after their surprisingly quiet debut album “I Prefer The Company of Men” – “surprisingly quiet” because of what had gone before – The Company of Men have released their second, “Sounds of the Century”.

This, too, is a calm affair, rich with long lived-in emotions, the wild abandon of a misspent youth melted into the middle-aged acceptance of past mistakes. Indeed, these guys have a few stories to tell, and they do so with joy, generosity of spirit, folky simplicity and a tapestry of organic guitar sounds woven with loving care. Finally, the album was mixed and mastered in Woodstock, New York, by Daniel James Goodwin (Craig Finn, Kevin Morby, etc.).

Christian Wicky used to be the voice and the bass of Favez, Gregory Wicky sang and played with Fierce Panda-signed Chewy. Both bands made noisy waves way past the borders of Switzerland. The others in the group, Jeff Albelda (guitars, piano, vocals) and Sandro Lisci (drums, vocals) look back on their very own long histories in a variety of French Swiss bands.

“Sounds of the Century” came out via Vitesse Records on 17 April 2020.
