The Bear is growling at last

13 December sees the physical and digital release of “Not Loud Enough”, the hotly anticipated debut album from Marius Bear via Sony’s “indie” wing, The Orchard. With a gruff voice that effortlessly switches from a soulful whisper to a full-blooded rock roar in an instant, Marius Bear cites the likes of Black Keys, Lewis Capaldi and Matt Corby as his most important influences. “Not Loud Enough” is choc-a-bloc full of memorable tunes, co-written by Bear with ace songwriters Jimmy Hogarth, Michael Kintish, Eliot James, Paul Whalley, Jim Eliot and Philippe Laffer.

Marius Bear – born and bred in the green hills of Eastern Switzerland – had already left his teenage years behind when he discovered his voice. His progress since then has been swift. Relocating to New York, he recorded an EP that remains unreleased due to the artist’s unhappiness with the results, and contributed to the soundtrack of a cinema film, “Lunar Tribute”. Deciding to change tack, Bear moved again, this time to London, to study music production at the music school, BIMM. A second EP, “Sanity”, proved to be a much better representation of Bear’s talents. He promptly bagged the “SRF3 Best Talent” award at the Swiss Music Awards 2019. To that, he recently added the “Best Live Act” award at the Swiss Live Talents gala. “Not Loud Enough” marks another quantum leap in a career that looks destined to go outernational very soon.
