Opuswerk releases Hendrik van Boetzelaer

Fans of labels like Bleed Music, Knotweed, Semantica, Demet3d, Absolutive or Mescene will be familiar with Opuswerk, providers of pounding, minimalist techno grooves to dance the night away to. Starting off as a duo more than a decade ago, for the past few years, Opuswerk has been the playground of co-founder Hendrik van Boetzelaer alone. With his new album, “Mémoire du Présent”, released by DEMENT3D Records on 17 June, Opuswerk has at last grown into the name of its maker.

An architect originally, Hendrik van Boetzelaer – Dutch Dad, Egyptian Mum – has long been a pillar of Geneva’s vibrant techno scene. Originally an “innocent” hobby, music making over the years became the central occupation in Hendrik’s life. He has this to say about reclaiming his real name for his music: “The work process behind the Mémoire Du Présent EP was the tipping point where the name Opuswerk had lost its original purpose. There needed to be something new, something that was better in touch with my emotions, feelings and my commitment to electronic music.”
