Batbait Stick to Dirty Clothes
16 September 2022 saw the release via Irascible of “Dirty Clothes”, the hotly anticipated debut album from Zurich-based quartet Batbait, winners of the rock category as well as the main “demo of the year” award at the 2021 m4music Demotape Clinic. Brimfull of post-punk attitude, female oomph, and, of course, spirited riffing, the album is precisely the sort of energy boost needed to survive the travails of the impending winter. The ten songs of “Dirty Clothes” clock in at a respectable 37 minutes, indicating that it’s not all 100 miles-an-hour two-chord-riffery! With much more atmospheric tracks like “What You Want” or “Goodboi” (sic), the band demonstrate an admirable hunger for new textures and dynamics which bode well for their future.
