Norna Tracking the Stars
There’s heavy, and then there’s Norna, a sort of post-metal supergroup, consisting of the Swedish guitarist and singer Tomas Liljedahl (Tera Tenebrosa, The Old Wind) and the Swiss duo of guitarist Chris Macquat and drummer Marc Theurillat (both from the band Ølten).
The trio have recently penned a deal with the Oslo-based label Vinter Records who proudly describe their new signing as “post metal heavy hitters” and a “devastatingly punishing outfit”. Norna’s debut album “Star Is Way Way Is Eye”, released on 8 February 2022, thunderously illustrates the record company’s point. To further quote the press release: “…an absolutely towering display of deeply gloomy, sludgy, post-metal power. A magnificent journey through malevolently creeping swathes of jagged light and abyssal darkens…” Actually, “Star Is Way Way Is Eye” is also frighteningly beautiful!
