All Swiss acts in the Reeperbahn programme

**

Alma Negra: Alma Negra are a collective living in Switzerland with very different backgrounds such as Cape Verde, Italy, Portugal and Spain. The musical results of this melange reflect influences as diverse as jazz in its more dancey styles, Fela Kuti, Theo Parrish, dancehall reggae, and plenty of oomph from Latin music.

Friday, 21.09. / 00:15h / Sommersalon (Swiss Night)

**

Anna Aaron: This is how the French edition of Rolling Stone described Anna Aaron’s style: “She confronts the fragmenting world in a numeric age with organic rock. As instrumental as it is electronic, as tribal as it is hypnotic, it is always suffused with an elusive mystical beauty.” Who are we to disagree?

Anna Aaron is on the shortlist for the prestigious Anchor, the Reeperbahn Festival International Music Award for “the most promising emerging music talent.”

Thursday, 20.09. / 23:10 / Imperial Theater
Friday, 21.09. / 21:45 / Sommersalon (Swiss Night)
Tba / Reeperbus N-Joy (Interview)

**

Black Sea Dahu: Janine Cathrein’s six-piece group Black Sea Dahu will be presenting songs from their new album, “In Case I Fall For You”. Hers is a gorgeously multi-layered voice, perfectly complemented by the band’s subtle and unusual arrangements.

Friday, 21.09. / 15:00 / Reeperbus N-Joy (Interview)
Friday, 21.09. / 20:30 / Sommersalon (Swiss Night)
Saturday, 22.09. / 11:30 / Freiheit und Roosen (Record Store Concert)
Saturday, 22.09. / 12:45 / Fritz Container Stage (Festival Village / Heiligengeistfeld)

**

Blind Butcher: This guitar/drums/pedals duo is another of Reverend Beat-Man’s mad Voodoo Rhythm discoveries. Their typically idiosyncratic and yet totally appropriate Voodoo Rhythm PR blurb describes their musical style as “irritating post punk new wave kraut disco”. Great stuff!

Friday, 21.09. / 17:00 / Sommersalon (Swiss Business Mixer)
Saturday, 22.09. / 21:30 / MS Claudia (St. Pauli-Landungsbrücken Port 10)
Saturday, 22.09. / 23:30 / Molotow Karatekeller

**

Evelinn Trouble: Re-inventing herself once again, Evelinn Trouble, as documented on her latest EP, Hope Music, has discovered a near-elegiac side to her muse. Fresh from winning the Swiss Music Prize, awarded by the Federal Office of culture, Trouble continues to follow only her own instinct, wherever that may take her, and whatever risks it entails.

Friday, 21.09. / 23:00 / Sommersalon (Swiss Night)

**

Lord Kesseli & the Drums: The thrillingly odd and thus unmissable Lord Kesseli & the Drums have been added to the Cargo Records Showcase at Thomas Read. The band will be presenting material from their new album, released in November.

Wednesday, 19.09. / 22:10 / Thomas Read (Cargo-Showcase)

**

Marius Bear: Bear by name, bear by voice. Mountain boy Marius honed his vocal style as a busker before moving to London to study at the BIMM pop school. His latest EP “Sanity” shows off his talent to great effect, combining a vocal style that isn’t a million miles away from Rag’n’Bone Man with a new, more electronic approach.

Friday, 21.09. / 14:30 / Sommersalon (Swiss Business Mixer)
Saturday, 22.09. / 17:25 / Reeperbus N-Joy (Interview)
Saturday 22.09. / TBC / Freiheit und Roosen (Record Store Concert)

Saturday, 22.09. / 21:00 / Spielbude

**

Muthoni Drummer Queen – (Kenia/CH): The Nairobi-born singer and rapper Muthoni Drummer Queen, with the help of Swiss producers Jean “Hook” Geissbuhler and Greg “GR!” Escoffey, has melded together elements of reggae, hip-hop, and the sounds of East Africa, to great effect.

Saturday, 22.09.18 / 20:00 / Spielbude

**

Steiner & Madlaina: The Glitterhouse-signed duo of singer and guitarist Nora Steiner and pianist/singer/guitarist Madlaina Pollina serve up a multi-facetted and subtle brand of folk rock made special by their intricate vocal interplay.

Friday, 21.09. / 19:15 / Sommersalon (Swiss Night)

**

Stevans: After three albums, Stevans from Geneva have this slightly 80s retro, introvert-and-yet-dance-type groove well and truly sussed. Formed around multi-instrumentalist and singer Yvan Franel as a vehicle to perform his songs, the quartet has plenty of catchy choruses to reel in the unwary.

Friday, 21.09. / 15:45 / Sommersalon (Swiss Business Mixer)
Saturday, 22.09. / 22:00 / Nochtwache

**

Veronica Fusaro: The young singer/songwriter Veronica Fusaro won the “Demo Tape of the Year” award at the M4Music conference/festival in spring 2016 for her song “Come to Naught” and hasn’t stopped gigging since. No wonder: she has a fine ear for a catchy chorus.

Wednesday, 19.09. / 20:15 / Zwick (Kontor New Media Live Lounge)
