Die Aeronauten take off – for the eleventh time

They are without a doubt one of Switzerland’s most popular as well as oldest and wittiest bands: formed 24 years ago in the Northern Swiss town of Schaffhausen and not the tiniest bit jaded, Die Aeronauten are at present in the middle of a an extensive tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland in support of their eleventh album, „Heinz“.

Formed as a raucous post-punk garage combo modelled on the sound of the early 1980s, Die Aeronauten soon explored other musical styles, taking in all sorts of ideas from musical fields as far apart as easy listening and the Shadows, rap and Croatian wedding band polkas. With a line-up that includes trumpet, trombone and harmonium, and a soft spot for parodies, a sense of humour is essential to the spirit of the band.

„Heinz“ was produced once again by chief Aeronaut Olifr M Guz (aka Oliver Maurmann, solo artist as well as the producer of outstanding albums by the likes of Stahlberger and Baby Jail). It was released in the GSA countries by the German label Rookie Records on 23 October.
