Eluveitie with new album

August sees the release of „Origins„, the sixth studio album by Eluveitie, pioneers of the „new wave of folk metal“. After the success of their 2012 album „Helvetios“ (top 5 in Switzerland, top 30 in Germany, top 3 in the US heatseekers charts as well as 143 in the official Billboard charts – a remarkable feat for a band with such an uncompromising vision and idiosyncratic style), the Winterthur-based eight-piece are confident the new work will further stengthen their position. With the exceptions of the UK and Ireland where the release date is 4 August, and the United States where it is 5 August, „Origins“ will be released worldwide by German label Nuclear Blast on 1 August.

With „Origins“, principal song writer Chrigel Glanzmann delves deep into the world of celtic myth in general and Gaulic myths in particular. Not content with merely reading a book or two, he has discussed his ideas with scholars at several different universities. Similarly, the symbolism of the Glanzmann-designed album cover is the result of lengthy consultations with experts at the University of  Zurich.

With a line-up that includes electric hurdy-gurdy, flute, bagpipe and fiddle, not to mention a super-heavy rhythm section and the dramatic twin vocals of Anna Murphy and Glanzmann, it comes as no surprise that the band has developed a strong reputation as a live act. Fresh from winning the „Best Live Act National“ award at the Swiss Music Awards in March 2014, Eluveitie have embarked on a massive world tour, taking in all corners of the world and lasting until November when they will be touring Europe, including France, Germany, Austria and the UK.

„King“, the first video from the album „Origin“ was premiered recently on the German Metal Hammer-website.
