The Woodgies in sisterly harmony
An highly promising appetiser for their next album, Geneva-based sister duo The Woodgies have released a new four-track EP, “Never be Known”. The EP is available via LME Records.
Born in Geneva to Irish parents, Hannah and Meghan Woodger’s songwriting is firmly rooted in the melodic tradition of Ireland. Frequently performing acapella, the sisters have honed their close and effortlessly elegant harmony vocals to perfection. Newly added banjo, upright, bass, cello and fiddle add a more intense Irish flavour to great effect. In a major coup, the new songs were produced by John “Spud” Murphy, thanks to his innovative work with Mercury Prize-nominated Lankum and Ye Vagabonds Ireland’s most sought-after music producer at present.
To celebrate the new release, the Woodgies will be supporting Jamie Duffy on a UK tour this autumn, followed by their own headlining tour next February.
