KT Gorique releases “Coeur Blanc”

Showing absolutely no sign of slowing down, much-travelled francophone rapper KT Gorique returns with a new album, her ninth. “Coeur Blanc” is available now via Hemp Higher Productions/Kita Sounds.

Born in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, and moving to the French part of Switzerland as a child, KT Gorique shocked the hip-hop world with a spectacular demonstration of her skills at the “End of the Weak” world rap finals in New York in 2012. An extended visit to her native country brought a new range of influences to her vision. Adding instruments like kalimba and balafon to her vocabulary gave her formative palette of reggae and hip-hop a considerably wider melodic reach. Since then, KT Gorique has been touring the world and collecting numerous awards, including the prestigious Swiss Music Award and finishing up as a finalist of the Netflix series “Nouvelle Ecole”. Last year, the single “Qui M’appelle” taken from her “Radio Pirate” album became hugely popular in Côte d’Ivoire, generating more than 3000 TikTok videos within the first weeks of its release.

Overseen by one of Europe’s most innovative hiphop/reggae studio boffins, Irish/Swiss producer Riga, “Coeur Blanc” offers a richly original blend of percussive afro drill, conscious rap, and melodious instrumental arrangements – plus, of course, KT Gorique’s beautifully flowing delivery of invariably thoughtful and insightful lyrics. The single “Abeilles Tueuses” features as a special guest the rising French Swiss rapper Al-Walid.
