LASKAAR Undergoing Transformation
Genre-blending soul singer LASKAAR announces the next chapter of his continuous evolution – a new album entitled “Transforma”. It is out now on ADA.
LASKAAR made his live debut in 2018 in a Madrid club. However, with roots in Zurich as well as Granada, the idea of blending different musical cultures was part of his DNA from the start. Frequent travels across the globe have further broadened his horizon, frequently bringing him in contact with the worlds of fashion and the visual arts. He has also collaborated with Nike, Grindr, OCB Paper Sessions, Swisscom and other well-known brands.
Without going into details, the press release informs us that “…after navigating a period of darkness, (LASKAAR) found a new portal through creation, translating his transformation into a sonic and visual rebirth. The album is both a reflection and a release…” In amongst a generous serving of twenty tracks, guest voices including Christina Defelice, Cuentosrosales and Paul-Joseph describe their thoughts about the concept of transformation. The music, meanwhile, leans towards clubby, house-infused soul with the odd excursion into Baile Funk, hyperpop and electronica. Added gold dust is sprinkled all over the record by guests Naomi Lareine, Onyx Kayd, Samantha Hudson, and many others.
