Switzerland at Reeperbahn Festival, Hamburg – Wed 21 – Sat 24 Sept 2022

Hamburg, here we come! A real treat to start the autumn with, the Reeperbahn Festival is THE place to find out what’s next in the music business – quite apart from the fact that Hamburg is a great city, and the programming of the festival guarantees plenty of musical discoveries.

Having been present from the very first edition of the Reeperbahn, Swiss Music Export’s devotion to one of the most enjoyable festivals around is not about to lapse. Once again, we are setting up a proper Swiss day at the Spielbude, with a Contact Lounge in the morning, a Swiss Business Mixer in the afternoon, and live music with our favourite six acts of the moment at the “A Taste of Swiss Music” evening. Needless to say, we’d be massively pleased to see you at any or, indeed, all, of these events!

Check out our playlist with all the amazing Swiss artists playing at Reeperbahn Festival 2022 here.

ADRIANO KOCH
THU 22 SEPT / 23:45 / RESONANZRAUM – presented by: Wise Music

Music has been an essential part of Adriano Koch’s life from early childhood. At the age of eight, he began studying piano at the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Lausanne, Switzerland. Inspired by greats of music history as diverse as Erik Satie and Tigran Hamasyan, Jon Hopkins and Bon Iver, Koch has created an unmistakable style comprised of classical music, jazz, electro and traditional oriental sounds.

ANNA ERHARD
FRI 23 SEPT / 13:45 / SPIELBUDE
SAT 24 SEPT / 22:40 / NOCHTSPEICHER

After leaving the Basel-based trio Serafyn, Anna Erhard relocated to Berlin for a personal and creative reboot. Her recent singles “Campsite”, “Guest Room”, and “Horoscope” suggest that she has thrown off the shackles of understated folk elegance in favour of a looser approach, complete with bold percussion, scratchy guitars and a generally more anarchic approach to noise making.

BONAPARTE & KID SIMIUS
THU 22 SEPT / 23:30 / UEBEL & GEFÄHRLICH

The duo of artists formerly known as Mule & Man reunites once again on stage for a slightly festive and colorful music, where retro synthesizers and lazy vocal melodies flirt. The whole thing is sprinkled with fun noisy sound effects and is driven by a deep complicity that puts you in a good mood.

DISTRICT FIVE
FRI 23 SEPT / 18:05 / SPIELBUDE

Named after the part of Zurich where they all live, District Five present themselves more like a community event than a conventional band. Driven by a propulsive rhythm section, their songs veer joyously between math rock, the outer regions of jazz, moody electronica and the odd passage of minimalist simplicity.

EMILIE ZOÉ
FRI 23 SEPT / 21:20 / SPIELBUDE

EVELINN TROUBLE
FRI 23 SEPT / 20:15 / SPIELBUDE

The winner of the IndieSuisse award for the “best album of 2021” for the strikingly original “Longing Fever”, Trouble has long been one of the most innovative as well as unpredictable voices in Switzerland. At the m4music festival in spring she performed with an extended line-up of an all-female band. There is no telling, however, what has happened in her universe since then.

KINGS ELLIOT
FRI 23 SEPT / 14:50 / SPIELBUDE
SAT 24 SEPT / 21:20 / HÄKKEN

MEIMUNA
FRI 23 SEPT / 17:00 – 17:30 / SPIELBUDE

Blessed with a voice clear as a mountain stream and a subtle touch on the guitar, Meimuna, aka Cyrielle Formaz, hails from the Valais and writes quietly ruminative chansons about life, love, and courage.

PINA PALAU
THU 22 SEPT / 19:30 / DRAFTHOUSE – presented by FUGA

The singer/songwriter from Zurich “loves the incongruous, the contradictory, the petty, the awkward and the ugly found in all of us” and refers to her finely spun indie/folk songs as a “scuffed up mirror, because if you take the time to listen you will eventually see yourself in it.”

PRIYA RAGU
FRI 23 SEPT / 15:55 / SPIELBUDE
