We Are the Inferno, According to Régis

Album titles don’t come much darker than this – “L’Enfer c’est nous”, or, in English, “The inferno, that’s us”. Fortunately for him and us, the Geneva-based singer/songwriter Régis appears to have a sense of humour. His music isn’t nearly as glum as that title would seem to suggest. The title track is, in fact, a joyously energising express ride on a beat that could have been devised by Giorgio Moroder, with a hint of New Order thrown in, and sung in a voice not a million miles away from the great Etienne Daho. At the same time, it is entirely possible to image a version of this song (and others on the album) done in the psychedelically twisted way of the Allah-Las.

“L’Enfer c’est nous” is Régis’s second album. It was released on 25 September by the Genevan independent label Cheptel Records.
