Heavy, heavier, Xaon

Dark metal combo Xaon caused quite a stir globally with their debut album, “The Drift”. Their second long player “Solipsis”, released worldwide on 12 April on the Danish specialist dark metal label Mighty Music, further ups the ante. Having toured alongside the likes of Sirenia and TYR in Europe, Obscura and Archspire in Japan, and the Veer Union in the USA, not to mention countless festivals all over Europe, the band couldn’t be any tighter now. “Sehr unterhaltsam, sehr solide, sehr abwechslungsreich. Sehr empfehlenswert!” wrote German metal mag Metallhammer: „Very entertaining, very solid, very diverse. Very recommendable.“

Xaon’s home town, Sion in the canton of Valais, is surrounded by mountains. Their sound is suitably massive, heavy and metallic. Formed around the core of Vincent Zermatten (guitars) and Rob Carson (vocals/”orchestrations”), they are not a million miles away in spirit from another local band, Samael. There must be something in the mountain water.
