Naveni dealing with the mess
Hot on the heels of being named “Best Talent” for the month of August by Radio SRF3 comes singer/songwriter Naveni’s third full-length album, “Romanticising the Mess”. Self-released, it was produced by Naveni alongside Samuel Vuilleumier and Bilgii Sakarya. The daughter of a British mother and an in Indian father, Naveni grew up right on the border between French and German Switzerland in Biel but works mostly in Zurich now, with her voice popping up on records by Pastel, Nic Hanson, OVE and Argyle, amongst others. Whilst her own style is a sophisticated blend of R&B, folky guitar strumming and jazzy grooves, the ingredient that makes her music most “different” is a light touch of bossa nova which works perfectly with her bright and yet effortlessly elastic voice. Another interesting element of her appeal is the lightly delivered sense of humour that flavours lyrics that don’t shy away from difficult feelings, broken hearts and afflictions like workaholism …
