Steiner & Madlaina Taking Risks

Out now via Glitterhouse Records is “Risiko”, album number three from Steiner & Madlaina. “Recording these tracks, we’ve had some of the best times together”, they say. And it sounds like it! Having decamped to the rural Normandie region in France to work at Studio Black Box in Noyant la Gravoyere, the twelve tracks were all recorded pretty much live. Though not averse to the odd hint of melancholy, Steiner & Madlaina’s song come with quite a bit of oomph, thanks to a band – Max Kämmerling (guitar), Leonardo Guadarrarma (drums), Nico Sörensen (bass) – that has been together for several years now.

Nora Steiner and Madlaina Pollina began making music together shortly after they first met in their new school in Zurich more than a decade ago. Blessed with voices that ooze vitality and warmth, the duo doesn’t shy away from complex subjects in their lyrics, all sung in German. The immediacy of words, voices and melodies has helped to build up a sizeable following throughout the GAS-country. After a few gigs around the release of “Risiko”, an extensive tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland will follow in November.
