The Souls Out of Hiding

It took them a while to release it – but now it is out: The Souls’ third album, “Too Good to Go”. Whilst the title might sound odd at first hearing, it does, in fact, tell it exactly how it was. Written in lockdown isolation by the band’s principal songwriter, Jay Messerli, the band found it difficult at first to get a handle on them once they were back in the studio. When the groove did click, however, it became obvious that these songs were too good to throw away.

Purveyors of great big pop melodies in the tradition of Simple Minds and the Killers, the six-piece from the beautiful Alpine shores of Lake Thun, The Souls are a bunch of childhood friends brought still closer together by their love of indie rock with proper choruses. Officially formed in 2010, they always had the big picture in mind. Their first album, for instance, was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Greg Collins. Recently, they returned from London where they spent four weeks working on the follow-up to “Too Good to Go” already.
