Analogue stages, analogue musicians, and analogue audiences – yes, The Great Escape returns to the streets of Brighton, and so do we from Swiss Music Export. As ever, we’ve booked ourselves into the grooviest club in town, the Komedia Studio Bar, for the revival of our traditional Swiss Business Mixer. Also as ever, we will bring with us some of the hottest new acts causing a stir back in Switzerland.

Driven by a fearlessly propulsive rhythm section, the four-piece from Zurich veer wildly and joyously between math rock, the outer regions of jazz, moody electronica and the odd passage of minimalist simplicity. Their recent debut album “Burnt Sugar” is a scorcher!

Fronted by the singer, Catia Lanfranchi, and drawing on a large reservoir of instruments that includes organ, flugelhorn and synth, the five-piece from Zurich weaves a beguiling post-chamber-rock tapestry of subtly textured melodies, underpinned by rhythms that are never quite as straight-forward as they might seem.

Having already wowed Great Escape insiders with her performance last November at the TGE “First-Fifty” event in a packed “Studio 9294” in London, Priya returns for a another, even bigger turn at the festival proper. With her melange of R&B, Pop, elements of Indian and Sri Lankan music, not to mention her spectacular clothes, she is bound to serve up one of this year’s festival highlights.

Recently signed to Universal, Kings Elliot’s has already built up a strong social media following. Her songs are deeply personal and unsparingly honest in the way they approach her own fears, hopes and anxieties.

Having started her singing and song writing career as a teenager, Ilira scored a massive hit in Eastern Europe with an early single, “Fading”. Recently signed to a joint deal with Virgin Records and Universal, she most definitely is one of the most colourful performers in Switzerland.
