Vendredi sur Mer Enjoys a “Métamorphose”

Released on 18 March 2022 by A+LSO/Sony Music, “Métamorphose” is the hotly anticipated follow-up to Vendredi sur Mer’s 2019 debut album, “Premiers émois”.

Hiding behind the pseudonym Vendredi sur Mer, multi-talented 25-year-old Genevan Charline Mignot is equally at home in the worlds of photography, fashion and music. Describing her music as “glacial electro pop”, she was hired early on in her career by the fashion brand Sonia Rykiel to supply the soundtrack for their spring/summer 2017 show. Several memorable singles and the album “Premiers émois” followed swiftly.

Having previously composed her music in blissful isolation, Vendredi sur Mer felt the need for some outside impulse to help uncover fresh aspects of her muse. Also, she had a craving for bit more oomph. As an experiment, she locked herself away in a studio with techno producer Sam Tiba (Club Cheval, Bromance, Zola, 13 Block) to write. The experience proved so refreshing that she decided to write the compose the whole new album in this manner, going to the studio every day for several months, simply to write and record on the spot. It is no surprise, therefore, that “Métamorphose” shows Vendredi sur Mer from a completely new side, her dreamy, melodic vocals riding along on irresistible dance grooves. “I wanted to talk about myself as a woman through stories, situations and songs.” She explains. “And I wanted to look for something raw, carnal and visceral.
