Velvet Two Stripes no Longer Taking that Sugar Honey Iced Tea

Barely two years after their tremendous and fierce return-to-form album “Devil Dance”, the Velvet Two Stripes – the Diggelmann sisters, Sophie and Sara, and their pal, Franca – are back again. Their new album “Sugar Honey Iced Tea” is released on 15 October 2021 via their own label.

Guitar, bass, drums, vocals and riffs – the recipe is as old as the hills but as Velvet Two Stripes prove with the first single from the album, “Fever”, in the right hands the results can sound as fresh as the first sunbeam in spring. “Maybe we should thank Jack White for taking the spirit of blues rock to the present age during the past 15 years and thus sharing the relevance of one of the oldest of all rock music genres”, it says on the Two Stripes’ homepage. With “Sugar Honey Iced Tea”, the trio have managed to infuse the old genre with a hefty dose of 2021 oomph. The title? They certainly don’t intend to drink the stuff. “A raw sound based on blues, garage rock and riot grrrl punk, crafted in true D.I.Y.-spirit”, it also says on their homepage: “It’s the sound of road warriors that had their unfair share of confrontations, encounters and contradictions that women are experiencing all day every day. But Velvet Two Stripes don’t take that Sugar Honey Iced Tea any longer”.
