Waves Vienna is back on a proper stage this autumn, and Swiss Music Export will be along to celebrate. Long-term fans of the Waves Vienna festival, we thought last year’s hybrid lockdown version was an amazing success, given the unfortunate circumstances. However, we are more than happy to return to the real thing. Once again, Swiss Music Export will present a Business Mixer combined with a showcase performance. Three Swiss acts are part of the regular festival line-up. What’s more, Swiss delegates will receive their passes at a 40% discount if they book them via Swiss Music Export!

As ever, this is an event not to be missed! Co-presented by FONDATION SUISA, the Embassy of Switzerland in Austria and SME, the Swiss Business Mixer offers a perfect opportunity for delegates from all over Europe to get to know their Swiss colleagues. Plenty of fresh ideas and new relationships have come out of these encounters in previous years. The first post-lockdown edition of the event will undoubtedly be even more special. Oh, and there will be food, drink and, of course, music, too!

The super talented singer and multi-instrumentalist Dino Brandão honed the style he calls “Afro Psych” in the course of the three albums he recorded with his first band, Frank Powers. Hitting the Swiss charts at the end of last year with “Ich liebe Dich”, an album he recorded with Sophie Hunger and Faber, Brandão released his first solo single, “Bouncy Castle” in April 2021.

SIRENS OF LESBOS

Six years after their tongue-in-cheek dance hit “Long Days, Hot Nights”, Sirens of Lesbos have evolved into something way beyond their own early expectations. Consisting of the singers, Denise Häberli and the Serag sisters whose parents were refugees from Sudan and Eritrea, and the producers Melvyn Buss and Arci Friede, the Sirens have arrived at a multi-faceted blend of Nu Soul, Fleetwood Mac-type harmonies, disco beats, and dub.

Kety Fusco plays the harp and has worked with many well-known orchestras in Switzerland and Italy. No longer satisfied with the restrictions of the classical world, she threw off her shackles and reinvented herself with her first solo album, “Dazed”. Influenced by the likes of Yann Tiersen, Jon Hopkins and Terry Riley, Kety Fusco combines quicksilver harp runs with a backdrop of richly layered ambient and percussive electronic textures.
