The Night Is Still Young Want to Go “Home”

23 April 2021 saw the release of “Home”, the fourth album from The Night is Still Young aka guitarist/bassist/pianist Marco Naef, an ex-member of the much-travelled Navel, and the bassist of hard rocking Hathors. Recorded pretty much live with the help of friends on bass and piano, “Home” is a quiet album, reflecting on a deeply troubled recent period in Naef’s life.

Regularly suffering bouts of depression, Naef was hit doubly hard in spring 2020. Severe private problems combined with the fallout from the first Covid-19 lockdown made him homeless. This, in turn, led to a spell in a psychiatric clinic. An old out-of-tune piano in a communal room of the clinic proved to be his salvation. Pouring all his emotions into a series of new songs rekindled his love of life as well as the spirit of his muse. By the time he was ready to leave the clinic, the songs for “Home” were ready to be recorded.
