Steiner & Madlaina Wish Themselves Luck

“Wünsch mir Glück” is the title of the new album, their second, from Steiner & Madlaina. Supposedly released at the end of January via Glitterhouse Records, due to a Covid-related backlog at the pressing plant it will now hit the shops on 12 February 2021.

Nora Steiner and Madlaina Pollina – the latter the daughter of Italo-Swiss singer/songwriter Pippo Pollina, and the sister of high-flying Faber, also a singer/songwriter – began making music together eight years ago, shortly after they first met in their new school in Zurich. Blessed with voices that ooze vitality and warmth, the duo doesn’t shy away from complex subjects in their lyrics. These are all in German on the new album, because “having toured incessantly in German-speaking countries after the release of our debut album, that’s how it came out”.

“Wünsch mir Glück” was recorded pretty much live in the studio under the watchful eye of producer Alex Sprave (Mando Diao, Ganes, We Invented Paris, etc), and with their regular band consisting of Leonardo Guadarrama (drums), Nico Sörensen (bass) und Max Kämmerling (e-guitar). Better late than never, the release of “Wünsch mir Glück” will be celebrated with an extensive tour of the GSA countries in the autumn.
