Mnevis – A Fresh Course of Events

Ever wondered what a Mnevis is? Well, we’re going to tell you anyway. In Egyptian mythology, Mnevis is the bull-like manifestation of chief God Atum-Ra’s lifeforce, Ka. Mnevis is also a band from Lucerne, and “The Course of Events” is the title of their new album. It was released on 29 January 2021 on Red Brick Chapel.

By the time Mnevis released their debut album Episodes just about two years ago, they had already been going for fully ten years. Untroubled by any desire to hurry their musical and personal development, they were a living and breathing organism that occasionally lost a limb, or acquired a new one, and never ceased to follow their sense of curiosity, or gave up their will to discover new tricks. “The Course of Events” is an intricately woven, confident record that displays their supple instrumental virtuosity with elegant restraint and a fine ear for understated dynamics. Combining conventional instruments with electronics in a Radiohead-sort-of-way, and a mellow-voice raconteur at the microphone, Mnevis sound fresh as the proverbial daisy.
