Bridge Building @ Label Suisse Festival Lausanne, 18 – 20 September 2020

Another festival still taking place this year is Label Suisse in Lausanne. The free festival aims to represent Swiss music in all its abundant stylistic and linguistic variety. The music programme is as exciting as ever and includes performances by Camilla Sparksss, Klaus Johann Grobe, Hyperculte, Nik Bärtsch, Crimer, La Gale, Blind Butcher, Kety Fusco, Erik Truffaz feat. Andrina Bollinger, The Animen, Schnellertollermeier, Verveine, The Young Gods, District Five, and many other excellent Swiss artists.

Label Suisse, together with Swiss Music Export, FCMA and the Swiss Ministry of Culture, also supports artists living abroad and creates networking opportunities for Swiss music business professionals. Alas, due to Corona-restrictions this year’s event will take place in front of a very much smaller live audience. Access to the conference part of the festival, too, is strictly limited. Rather than wallowing in sadness, the organisers have decided to use the unusual circumstances to their own advantage. Thus, rather than trying to foster international connections, the festival will concentrate on bridging the “Röstigraben”, that is, the cultural gap between the French and Swiss parts of Switzerland. Due to the smallness of their group, the thirty invited professionals from both parts of Switzerland will find it impossible NOT to get to know each other a lot better over the three days of concerts and panels served up by the festival.

A presentation of cultural and institutional structures and projects devised to maintain innovation and creation in these difficult times, and to continue the development of cooperative ventures between the various parts of Switzerland as well as other countries. The presentation and discussion will be available to the public via live-streaming.

“Say Hi! Soundwalk”

A movable networking event for professionals in the shape of a walk through Lausanne with stop-offs at strategic locations to meet and greet – socially distanced, of course – a number of artists performing at the festival.

Business Brunch

A final get-together by participating professionals for a further exchange of views and ideas, organised in partnership with PETZI, and Sonart #cultureismyjob
