SME @ Reeperbahn Festival by Proxy – 16 – 19 Sept 2020

Corona be damned, there won’t be a Swiss Business Mixer at this year’s Reeperbahn Festival (which means no raclette and white wine, either), nor will there be any live showcases of Swiss acts, or SME sponsored live performances, or even a Swiss Contact Lounge.

However, Reeperbahn will not quite pass without any Swiss contribution at all. Indeed, L’Eclair are one of our favourite acts of recent times. We are totally confident the sextet from Geneva will rock the joint as well as the internet with verve and style and they will bring home the ANCHOR Award!

A heady mixture of Joe Meek, Fela Kuti and the whole of Jamaican dub history, with a hint of Bert Kaempfert and the Shadows thrown in, L’Eclair’s jazz-inflected instrumentals might possibly raise the suspicion they were flirting with cheesy listening – if they weren’t so damn, danceably funky and, dare we say it, funny.
