Emilie Zoé & Christian Garcia-Gaucher Follow the Pigeons

A new collaborative album by Emilie Zoé and Christian Garcia-Gaucher, “Pigeons – Soundtrack for the birds on the Treetops Watching the Movie of our Lives”, was released on 3 April by Hummus Records. The music was inspired by a film by the Swedish director Roy Anderson.

When Emilie Zoé – the singer/songwriter with an experimental bent – was invited to accompany a film of her choice with live music at an alternative film festival in La Chaux-de-Fonds, she contacted Christian Garcia-Gaucher who, as the producer, had helped shape the darkly shimmering instrumental textures of her second album “The Very Start”. The two of them together chose the movie “A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence” which had won the Golden Lion for best film at the Venice Film Festival 2014. Their live show alongside the film at the festival in 2018 was quickly sold out, leading to a desire to not let the project rest there. Decamping to Louis Jucker’s attic studio, they mixed original demos with new material including some field recordings.

The album is released on CD, digital and four different and very limited vinyl editions.
