Update – Voix de Fête – Genève – cancelled

“At a time when languages mix and sometimes disappear, the decision to express oneself artistically in one’s language is a strong cultural act, which deserves to be supported”, write the organisers of Voix de Fête on their website, and we at Swiss Music Export heartily agree. The Voix de Fête conference/festival was launched in 1999 to celebrate music-making in the whole of the Francophone world. Now in its 22nd year, the festival has grown massively from its humble beginnings, attracting well over 200 music business professionals from Switzerland, France, Belgium and Canada to enjoy more than 50 live acts, chosen with a focus on innovation and originality.

Swiss Music Export, in collaboration with Fcma, will once again set up a “Salon Contact”. Here, anyone who wishes to do so – artists, producers, radio programmers, promoters, fanzine editors, studio and record label owners, etc. – will be able to set up their own stall to publicise their work. In a convivial atmosphere, new connections and ideas are bound to flourish.

Salon Contact – cancelled
Saturday 21 March – 12:30 – 17:00 – Plainpalais

Part of the Salon Contact and newly introduced this year, is a speed-meeting where artists and business professionals will be able to exchange views and ideas without the danger of getting bored by long-winded babble.

Swiss Music Export would like to draw your attention to three artists in particular who will be appearing live at the festival, Félicien Lia, Stéphane Blok, and Pony del Sol.

Félicien Lia is a superbly fluent guitar player whose subtly syncopated songs come with a strong dose of conga- and sax-driven oomph. Driven by a selection of beautiful-sounding guitars and a hint of electronica, Stéphane Blok’s singer/songwriter muse comes a little darker, quieter and more mysterious. Pony del Sol are a synth-chanson ensemble led by singer/songwriter Gael Kyriakidis who has a penchant for alluring eerie melodies.

Another Swiss band appearing live at Voix de Fête, Baron.E, will represent Switzerland at Les Inouïs du Printemps de Bourges later this year.
